In January of 2008, Director Morgan Potts and a film crew from UNC-TV spent three days in the High Country filming and interviewing me for a planned Our State segment on my Private Diary Series, scheduled for release in June of that year. A major portion of filming was done at a selected site between Boone and West Jefferson, a deserted house that I have painted several times during my forty years of residence in Watauga County. This superbly done 10-minute segment, directed by Potts and filmed by Mike Burke, recently won a regional Emmy Award. Through the cooperation and generosity of UNC-TV, this award-winning segment can now be seen in its entirety on their website.

Appreciated Comments:
I have enjoyed viewing and reading your work on this site. I was a student of yours in the mid 70′s (advanced drawing and etchings). We both enjoyed playing golf at the time and we played together once at Boone Golf Club. I remember you using some homemade tees (golf pencils with the top hollowed out as I recall) to tee your ball a little higher than the short tees of the time allowed. In hindsight you were well ahead of your time. I don’t want to go on too much but really appreciated you as a teacher and continue to admire your work as an artist. I hope you are doing well.

“Glad you have done well—and most of all we are still around. I remember our school days and you.”

“We met briefly once inn the gallery you and Kevin had in Blowing Rock. Great conversation and insite on your work. I appreciate where you come from in your vision and have similar experiences with regard to the subject matter and how you relate to it on canvas. I wish you the best.”
